Bio

Dr. Suzanne L. Palmer is Chief of Imaging at the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and affiliated with the School of Medicine at UC Irvine, Department of Radiological Sciences. 

A native of Southern California, Dr. Palmer received her BA from Vassar College and her medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine. She completed an Internal Medicine residency at St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, California, and passed the American Board of Internal Medicine before completing her radiology residency at UC Irvine and a body imaging and interventional fellowship at the University of Southern California. Dr. Palmer joined the USC Department of Radiology after fellowship and over time was promoted to the rank of Professor of Clinical Radiology and Medicine. While at Keck School of Medicine at USC she held many administrative and leadership positions including Chief of the Body Imaging Division and Fellowship Director, Director of Body MRI, Medical Director of USC University Hospital Imaging Department, and President of the Keck School of Medicine Faculty Council. 

Dr. Palmer is a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology and is experienced in body imaging with a focus on abdominopelvic MRI and imaging guided procedures. Dr. Palmer has published over 70 peer review manuscripts and book chapters with many of her publications covering topics related to prostate imaging for early diagnosis and surveillance of prostate cancer, gynecological/dynamic pelvic floor imaging, and chronic liver diseases/transplantation. 

Dr. Palmer is active in local, national, and international radiology societies. Currently, Dr. Palmer is President of the Los Angeles Radiological Society and President Elect for the California Radiological Society. She has received multiple honors including Fellowships in the American College of Radiology and the American College of Physicians and has been named as Southern California Super Doctors – Los Angeles Magazine, Top Doctors – Pasadena Magazine, and Best Doctors in America –Best Doctors in America®database/list.
