Dr. Deacutis grew up in the greater Boston area. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She went on to receive her Master of Philosphy (MPhil) in Neuroscience from University of St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland, with a thesis on the ethics of diagnosing and treating pediatric depression. She received her Medical Degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, NY. She then went on to Anesthesia Residency at Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA, followed by fellowships in Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesia at Boston Children's Hospital. Following training, she was appointed as Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Yale School of Medicine, an affiliated faculty of the Biomedical Ethics Program, and an attending in Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiology at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT prior to moving to Philadelphia for a position at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. In addition to congenital cardiac patient care, she is also focused on medical ethics and is a member of the CHOP Hospital Ethics Committee.
