She obtained her medical degree at the University of Toronto, and completed general surgery residency and an advanced minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Alberta. She continued her training, completing fellowships in pediatric vascular malformations and pediatric colorectal surgery at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and in pediatric surgery at the University of Florida. She returned to Cincinnati Children’s in 2011.  She came to Boston Children’s Hospital in 2016 as is the director of the Colorectal and Pelvic Malformation Center.  Together with the multidisciplinary team of  physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, social worker, psychologists provides comprehensive, collaborative care to children with both congenital and acquired Colorectal and urogenital issues.  The center is a leaders in using minimally invasive approaches to the surgical reconstruction in colorectal malformations and in innovation of new ways for reconstruction with functional outcomes.

The center continues to strive to improve the care of children and adults with congenital colorectal issues.

She is also the surgical co-director of the congenital diaphragmatic hernia program with Dr. Jill Zalieckas.  Together they work in a multidisciplinary team looking after the prenatal, perinatal and surgical aspects of these complex children
