Maria Alejandra Hernandez is a member of the Department of Anesthesiology at Boston Children's Hospital. She completed her anesthesia residency in Uruguay, her home country, and at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in the United States. She also completed a Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Research Fellowship in addition to a Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Medicine Fellowships at Boston Children's Hospital where she practices currently. At Boston Children's Hospital, she has been part of the Pediatric anesthesia team, as well as the Acute and Chronic pain teams with contributions in regional anesthesia, chronic pain clinic and interventional pain procedures.
Since the beginning of her career in Anesthesia in 2012, she has made contributions to the management of acute and chronic pain in the pediatric population. She has travelled and participated in various national and international conferences as lecturer and workshop instructor. She has worked closely with the Latin-America Society of Regional Anesthesia and Individual Anesthesia Societies in Latin-America to incentivize and promote the practice of regional anesthesia in pediatrics. She currently has an active role in education with LASRA as a member of the Pediatric Regional Anesthesia Committee.
