Matthew Kirschen, MD PhD MSCE is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine, Pediatrics, and Neurology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He is the Associate Director of Pediatric Neurocritical Care and the Director of the Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program at CHOP. His research is focused on using multimodality neuromonitoring to detect and prevent brain injury in critically ill children, predicting recovery in children after severe acute brain injury, and the accurate diagnosis of death by neurologic criteria. Dr. Kirschen received his MD and PhD from Stanford University in Neuroscience. He completed his pediatrics residency at Stanford’s Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, followed by fellowships in both child neurology and pediatric critical care medicine at CHOP.
