Rebecca is a paediatric anaesthetist at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital and a senior lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesia and Peri-operative Medicine as well as the Division of Global Surgery at the University of Cape Town (UCT). She is founding faculty and a member of the Leadership team of Paediatric Anaesthesia Training in Africa (PATA) and, through this and other work, has helped start paediatric anaesthesia and peri-operative simulation programs in several African countries. She is a founder member of the Paediatric Anaesthesia Community of South Africa (PACSA) and of the African Simulation Network (ASN). She has special interests in anaesthesia for children with muscular disorders, trauma, burns and in paediatric sedation. When she’s not working you will find her on the mountain or in the kitchen.
