CSA 2026 Winter Anesthesia Conference
January 19 - 23, 2026

General Information

CSA's 2026 Winter Anesthesia Conference is a comprehensive program designed to enhance the continuing medical education experience of physician anesthesiologists, fellows, residents and other healthcare providers. Topics selected provide updates on the latest clinical information in anesthesiology and its subspecialties.

EDUCATIONAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Articulate patient safety bundle components of readiness, recognition, response and reporting in the management of obstetric hemorrhage
  • Appraise optimal epidural insertion (combined-spinal epidural and dural puncture epidural) and maintenance (patient-controlled epidural analgesia and programmed intermittent epidural boluses) techniques for labor analgesia
  • Identify preferred anesthetic and analgesic drugs for pregnant and breastfeeding patients
  • Understand the indications for outpatient catheter use
  • Discuss patient selection criteria and safety considerations
  • Appraise current evidence and future directions for outpatient catheter
  • Understand the complexity of the pharmacology of general anesthesia and the implications for clinical care
  • Appreciate the gap between knowledge and practice in management of neuromuscular blockade in anesthesia, and the risks of not closing the gap
  • Evaluate the evidence for and against anesthetic neurotoxicity at the extremes of age

STATEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL NEED
Anesthesiology is a dynamic specialty with significant changes expected on several fronts in the years to come, including new clinical technologies and practices, regulatory changes, business process changes, and overall changes in the healthcare environment. In addition to covering the latest clinical information, this program seeks to prepare participants for emerging and anticipated changes in the practice of anesthesiology.
