Ronald G. Pearl, M.D., Ph.D., FASA is the Dr. Richard K. and Erika N. Richards Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California. He served as chair of the department from 1999-2021. He practices cardiovascular anesthesia and critical care medicine. He has served as president of the president of the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA), the Society of Academic Associations of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (SAAAPM), the Association of Academic Anesthesiology Chairs (AAAC), the Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA), and the California chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He serves on the ASA Committee on Innovation, the Committee on Academic Anesthesiology, the Committee on Critical Care Medicine, the Educational Track Subcommittee on Critical Care, and the Educational Track Subcommittee on Perioperative Medicine. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts on topics that include pulmonary hypertension, respiratory failure, septic shock, blood transfusion, and perioperative medicine.
