Dr. Mariano is a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine at Stanford University and is Chief of Anesthesiology at the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System. He has published over 300 articles and is a recipient of the John D. Chase Award for Physician Executives Excellence, Distinguished Service Awards from ASRA Pain Medicine and ESRA Spain, and Distinguished Educator in Anesthesiology Award from the American Society of Anesthesiology and the Society for Education in Anesthesia. He is past President of the California Society of Anesthesiologists, serves on the American Society of Anesthesiologists Board of Directors, and has held leadership positions in ASRA Pain Medicine and other organizations and journals.
