Emily Methangkool, MD, MPH serves as the Chair of the Olive View-UCLA Department of Anesthesiology and is an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. Emily is passionate about patient safety, quality improvement, cardiac anesthesia, and gender equity in medicine, and has written about and spoken on these topics at the national level. She has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Anesthesia and Analgesia, and the British Journal of Anaesthesiology. She is the current Chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists Committee on Patient Safety and Education, Chair of the Women in Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Special Interest Group of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists, Vice Chair of the American Board of Anesthesiology Cardiac Anesthesiology MOCA Minute Committee, a member of the APSF Board of Directors, and editor of the APSF Newsletter.
