Dr. Catherine Cha, MD, is the Interim Division Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology at UCLA Medical Center and has been a board-certified anesthesiologist since 2013. Dr. Cha completed her fellowship training at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (2012-2013, ACGME accredited). She continues to spend most of her clinical time and much of her academic career advancing the care of obstetric anesthesia patients. Dr. Cha previously set up the OB Anesthesiology division at MLK hospital when they reopened in 2015 in South Los Angeles. As Medical Director from 2015-2018, she helped establish quality labor and delivery care for the underserved community of South Los Angeles. She also served as Medical Director of Obstetric Anesthesiology for Santa Monica/UCLA Hospital from 2017 to 2023. Dr. Cha was part of research investigating intralipid rescue dosing for bupivacaine-induced cardiotoxicity in pregnant and non-pregnant rats. Dr. Cha has contributed to the field of Obstetric Anesthesia through numerous lectures, didactic sessions, and Grand Rounds presentations delivered to Anesthesia residents, fellows, nursing staff, and fellow anesthesiologists. She is a member of multiple professional societies, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the California Society of Anesthesiologists, and the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology.
