POCUS Workshop
This workshop will be a comprehensive workshop covering various elements of point of care ultrasound (POCUS) including airway, gastric, lung, cardiac, abdominal, and vascular ultrasound.
This workshop will enable all the learners to have lectures and hands-on practice on POCUS.
Session Learning Objectives:
- Review the use of point of care ultrasound in the perioperative medicine setting with a primary focus on the expansion of the utility of ultrasound for the general anesthesiologist.
- Learn fundamental cardiac, pulmonary, abdominal, vascular, and airway point of care ultrasound topics under a validated perioperative educational curriculum (FORESIGHT: (Focused periOperative Risk Evaluation Sonography Involving Gastro-abdominal, Hemodynamic, and Trans-thoracic ultrasound).
- Apply airway ultrasound in clinical practice.
- Interpret lung ultrasound utility.
- Construct gastric ultrasound usage in perioperative area
- Assess for intra-abdominal fluid and abdominal compartment syndrome via the Focused
- Assessment with Sonography for Trauma (FAST) exam.
- Integrate abdominal ultrasound into practice - assess NPO status of patients
