Since completing his residency and fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia at the University of California, San Diego in 2014, Dr. Cronin has been on staff at UCSD and the VA San Diego. In the past, Brett has provided anesthesia for the general operating rooms, labor and delivery, cardiac surgery as well as liver, heart and lung transplants. He currently devotes most of his clinical time to the cardiovascular center, cardiothoracic transplantation and general anesthesia. Since graduating from fellowship, Dr. Cronin has focused on educating residents and fellows on topics including cardiac implantable electronic devices, electrophysiology, renal replacement therapy, cardiothoracic anesthesia, mechanical assist devices, and transesophageal echocardiography. He has also presented similar topics at the ASA annual meeting, SCA annual meeting, and UCSD Perioperative TEE Review Course. His academic interests mirror his educational focus and have resulted in publications in the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia (JCVA) on those topics.
