Dr. Dalia Banks is a Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego, and has been an active member of the Society of Cardiovascular Anesthesiologists (SCA) and the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) since 1998. She completed her anesthesia training at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesia at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr. Banks joined the UCSD faculty in October 2005. She served as the Cardiothoracic Anesthesia Fellowship Director for 11 years and as Division Chief of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology for 9 years. She currently serves as Vice-Chair for Cardiovascular Anesthesia Academic Affairs. She is a section editor for the Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia and sits on the ASA Educational Track Subcommittee for Cardiac Anesthesia. Within the SCA, she served as Chair of the Newsletter Subcommittee for four years and was elected to two terms on the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee. She has also contributed as a member of the Scientific Program Committee. Dr. Banks has recently been active with the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA), where she served as Program Chair for the 2024 Annual Meeting and will serve again as Program Chair for the 2025 CSA Summer Meeting in Hawaii. A passionate educator, Dr. Banks has developed several CME-accredited educational courses at UCSD, reflecting her deep commitment to academic excellence and professional development in cardiovascular anesthesia.
